I’m really thrilled to be a part of the blog tour for Sweet Evil! This was one of my favorite reads this year, and I was truly surprised by how much I loved it. I can’t wait for the sequel!
Anyways, I have an interview here for you with Wendy, who is so sweet, especially on Twitter. I’m so happy that I got to ask her my questions!
(You can also check out my raving review of Sweet Evil here!)
1. What has been your favorite part of being a published author?
Talking with readers who feel as passionate for my story as me! When people say my story has inspired them, that is the ultimate praise. It makes
me very emotional.
2. Who was your favorite character to write?
Kai. He challenged me and pushed me as a writer.
3. How many drafts/revisions did Sweet Evil go through? Did you enjoy going through revisions?
I didn’t count, but it was a TON. Fifty? One hundred? I was constantly
tweaking, constantly revising, constantly adding new ideas as they came to me, constantly editing when a new beta would read it and give feedback. I
love it. Every time I make changes it feels stronger. Better.
4. What was your first reaction after seeing your [gorgeous] cover?
At first I was disappointed because it was ANOTHER girl in a dress, and I was hoping for no straight-on faces. But the more I looked at it, the more I fell in love with it because it completely captures the tone of the story—the essence of Anna and Kai—the
sexiness and danger, good and bad. And it helps that Kai is hot on the cover.
5. What made you want to be an author in the first place?
It was always my dream job—the job I never thought I’d actually have. I always loved writing stories, since I was a kid, but until I wrote this one I felt like it was just a hobby, just a personal thing I did for fun.
6. About how much do you write in a day?
~It really varies depending on if my children are with me, because I can’t write when I’m not alone. I’m lucky to get 3 hours a day. On cloud nine if I
can get 5 hours. This is why it takes me a year to finish a book, including revisions.
7. Do you have a specific routine you go through every day, or a
specific place you write?
Most of my day consists of “Mommy” stuff. :) I almost always write in my bed at night.
8. Describe Anna and Kaidan in three words each.
~ Anna: gentle, sweet, strong
~ Kai: sexy, rough, guarded
9. What can you tell us about Sweet Hope? Has there been any news for it yet?
No news yet, but I’m hoping for news very soon! We can expect to see Anna do a bit of growing up and maturing. There will be traveling. There will
be less of Jay and more of Kope, although Jay has a bigger role in book three. And there will be much kissing.
10. What are your hopes for your writing career in the future?
I just hope I can come up with more ideas to write about!
Thanks so much to Wendy for stopping by and answering my questions! I’m totally looking forward to Sweet Hope. In fact, Wendy made this fabulous Pintrest board with teasers for the next book (which further excited me!).
Be sure to check out the rest of the Sweet Evil tour, and if you haven’t read this fantastic book, you absolutely must pick it up!
Sexy, rough and guarded? I need to meet this Kai soon! ;) Brilliant interview, Aneeqah and Wendy. :) Sweet Evil is a book I keep meaning to read but never seem to get around to. I will definitely have to make some time for it soon!
