Waiting On Wednesday is a meme where you basically share an upcoming book that you’re excited to read. It’s hosted over at Breaking the Spine by Jill.
The book I’m waiting on today is…: A Shimmer of Angels by Lisa M. Basso.

A compelling and spirited debut from Lisa M. Basso in which sixteen-year-old Rayna Evans has spent the last three years locked away in a mental institution for seeing angels. Intent on remaining free, she ignores signs that she may be slipping into the world she has tried so hard to climb out of. But when her hallucinations begin showing up at school, can Rayna keep her job, her sanity and keep students from dying at the hand of angels she can’t admit to seeing?
Psychiatry, fantasy and real life come together in A Shimmer of Angels, as a young girl struggles with identity, secrets and confronting her greatest fears. A Shimmer of Angels is a wonderful read for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider, or perhaps has felt like giving up entirely. It touches on themes of suicide, ostracism and emotional pain. The author, personally exposed to suicide through the death of her beloved brother, will donate a percentage of sales of this novel to a local suicide prevention and outreach program in San Francisco, California.
This sounds like an awesome psychological type thriller. I mean, come on, mental institution?! How could you say no to that? And the fact that the author is donating money to her local suicide prevention program with a percentage of the sales really seals the deal for me with this book. I’m so excited to see what the author has in store for us with this book!
This book will be released on November 20th, 2012.
Wow, this one sounds amazing, Aneeqah! I've heard of it before but I never knew the author was donating a percentage of her sales - that's truly wonderful! I think that alone makes me want to pick this up soon! Fantastic pick and thanks for sharing! :)

Doesn't this sound good? It doesn't hurt that the cover is beautiful too. ;) I think it's great that the author is contributing to a good cause. Thanks for sharing that info, Aneeqah! I didn't know that before.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick this week! :)
Ooh, I hadn't heard of this one! I'm loving that cover. The title makes me think that a group of angels is called a "shimmer" (as in, a murder of crows; a flock of sheep)! I love psychological stories, too, so I'm excited for this one to come out. :)
