Waiting On Wednesday (24)

Waiting On Wednesday is a meme where you basically share an upcoming book that you’re excited to read. It’s hosted over at Breaking the Spine by Jill.

The book I’m waiting on today is…: Splintered by A.G. Howard

Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

What’s that over there? *points finger* Oh, don’t worry, it’s just my puddle of drool that just appeared after I stared at this cover! Seriously, that cover is all kinds of gorgeous. This book is one of those books that would go on my TBR just because of the cover. But, even better, the synopsis sounds totally amazing too! I love the idea of it being a retelling of Alice in Wonderland, that just sounds awesome! These tests that Alyssa has to pass sound daring and challenging and action packed. Which is exactly my kind of thing! Since I wasn’t approved for this on NetGalley, I’ll have to bear the wait. But hopefully, it’ll be totally worth it!

This book will be released on January 1st, 2013. (How cool is it that a book comes out on New Year’s Day?!)

What are YOU waiting on this week?
